The CRKT M16 is probably the most iconic CRKT model ever designed. This knife, which was designed by Kit Carson is an homage to the M16 assault rifle, has been around for quite some time. This M16-04Z ‘Big Dog” tanto version, is a full size working knife suited to large hands and heavy duty tasks. It opens with one hand with the flipper or double thumb stud and it is locked by the liner lock. It uses InterFrame construction, tough, textured glass filled nylon scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame. The handle is assembled with superior offset Torx® fasteners.

Okay this thing is big, and has a good bit of heft to it. It is definitely not something to carry around in your pocket unless you’ve got a specific task for it. Have yet to put it through its paces fully but it seems capable and has kept its edge well. The automatic liner lock is a neat system and adds a unique look to this knife. The action was quite stiff at first, and being such a large and heavy blade it needs a bit more force to get it to cleanly deploy with the flipper tab but frees up nicely. a great addition to any collection.
